Laurel Ridge State Park
Somerset, PA
Description:
This large park spans Cambria, Fayette, Somerset and Westmoreland counties. The main feature of the park is the 70-mile Laurel Highlands Hiking Trail, which features trail shelters for overnight camping.

About 35 miles of trail are available for cross-county skiing. Please check with the park office to see which sections are suitable for skiing. A free map is available from the park office.
(I sent for the free map on 12/1/07 and will update this page with specifics on the trails when that informaiton arrives. It is apparently not currently documented on-line.)

There is a 20-mile cross-country ski touring concession adjacent to the PA 653 parking area. A fee is charged for usingh these trails. Equipment rental on site.

The Pennsylvania Cross Country Skiers Association, PACCSA for short, is a volunteer organization that is dedicated to the development of the sport of cross country skiing in Pennsylvania and its tri-state region. The Association is very active in supporting the concession trails and maintains a web site with a webcam showing snow conditions.Laurel Ridge State Park Location
