Rules of Conduct and Safety
Regulations
Any violation of the following Rules of
Conduct by a
member of the Kick 'n Gliders will be considered just cause for
revocation of current and denial of future club membership
privileges. These Rules of Conduct can be amended by a
majority
vote of the Executive Board.
-
No member shall conduct himself in a disorderly
manner.
-
No member shall be delinquent in payment of yearly
dues or trip monies.
-
Use of controlled substances and abuse of alcohol
are prohibited.
-
No member shall act in a way to endanger himself or
others while involved in club activities.
-
When skiing on club activities, each member will
abide by the following Rules for Group Skiing:
-
In the interest of safety, we ski in groups
generally staying within sight of one another.
-
Each skiing group has a leader who is in charge of
the
group. However, each skier is ultimately responsible for his
actions and safety.
-
The leader has the right to refuse to accept a
skier
whose ability is not compatible with the rest of the group.
However, after the leader established his group, he must set a pace
that accommodates the slowest members of the group.
-
Minimum size of skiing groups is four skiers,
although
in certain circumstances, such as golf course skiing and at the smaller
touring centers, two skiers may be a group.
-
The leader will stop periodically to count noses.
-
If someone is unaccounted for, the leader will
send two or three skiers back to check on them.
-
If you must leave the group, inform the leader so
he
won't waste time looking for you. The leader may assign
skiers to
ski out with you or alter the itinerary to safely escort you out of the
woods. Otherwise, stay on the agreed trip route.
-
At trail junctions, each skier shall wait until
the
following skier arrives, so he can tell the following skier the proper
trail to follow.
-
If members of the group wish to ski at different
speeds,
the group may be broken up into smaller groups, each with its own
leader.
-
Do not ski ahead of the leader because he will not
be
able to inform you of changes in the itinerary and he may miss you when
he stops to count noses.
